NE 412 | Neutronics Meetings

At this point, most people in class have received their MCNP DVDs and
some have installed it on their computers.  Additionally, some students
have run some of the example input files.  I would like to schedule
weekly neutronics meetings with each of the groups (30 minutes in
length).  Below I have listed some potential meeting times.  Your group
should look over their class schedules and agree on 2 or 3 potential
times and send them to me by 5pm Friday, Feb. 9.   I’ll arrange the
times to fit for the 5 groups we have this semester.  We’ll plan to
start meeting Monday Feb. 12.

Note: These meetings will be focused on the neutronics (i.e. determining
what calculations are important to run and then using MCNP to actually
carry out the calculation.)  Therefore, if a team has decided that only
1 or 2 members will focus on the neutronics and running MCNP, only that
person needs to attend the meetings. For the initial meeting, probably
the whole group should attend.

Additionally, when people have questions that arise regarding
MCNP/neutronics outside of these regular meetings, you should contact me
to set up a brief meeting (in other words, don’t waste several days
waiting because you are stuck on something…we/you need to keep things
moving forward in order to complete your design by the end of the
semester).  Recall that I have a web page with instructions for running
MCNP, key tutorials and references, and some criticality and shielding
examples.  This web page is at:
